Minnesota State University is located about an hour southwest of Minneapolis/St. Paul.  Founded in 1868, the university has approximately 14,000 students and 100,500 alumni.  MSU has six academic colleges:  Allied Health and Nursing, Arts and Humanities, Business, Education, Science, Engineering & Technology, and Social and Behavioral Sciences.  There are 158 undergraduate programs of study and 82 graduate programs. 

On campus is the Andreas Observatory - a state-of-the-art astronomy facility.

Minnesota State University sports teams are the Mavericks.  Mavericks sports facilities include Blakeslee Stadium, Midwest Wireless Civic Center, Myers Field House, and Taylor Center.  MSU participates in  Division I and II athletics baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, hockey, indoor track & field, outdoor track & field, swimming, tennis, and wrestling.  The campus has been the Minnesota Vikings Summer Training Camp for over four decades.
